I agree Searcher.
The Governing Body believes its own propaganda. You can't get more blind than that.
(Matthew 6:23) . . .If in reality the light that is in you is darkness, how great that darkness is!
br.
lett, people on this site imitate jesus every day.
they imitate jesus' custom of pointing out the hypocrisy, self-love and greed the religious leaders in his religion practiced daily.

basically, from what i can tell from the new return to jehovah brochure, is that the governing body is now offering amnesty to anyone who has been gone from the congregation but now wants to return.. it claims it doesn't matter what sins you've done, or what caused you to leave, if you repent to jehovah and ask the elders to help you, and return to the meetings, you'll be warmly welcomed with no disciplinary action or judgment against you..
Too Little, Too Late.
Punch me in the stomach and then invite me back for another session of "love"?
No thanks.
Get Behind Us Governing Body, satan, you think men's thoughts and not God's. You believe you can not only pull the wool over the publishers eyes but now those you have murdered by your hypocrisy and crass self-worship as well?
Keep your soft-touch brochure it means nothing. You want to get the inactive back? You already know how..imitate Jesus! But that's too hard for those who never knew him in the first place.

Br. Lett, People on this site imitate Jesus every day. How so? They imitate Jesus' custom of pointing out the hypocrisy, self-love and greed the religious leaders in his religion practiced daily.
There is much more imitation of Jesus on this site than in Bethel where young men and women who serve there must not be openly critical or questioning as Jesus was but must do as the parents of the blind man Jesus healed and remain silent lest they be thrown out of the "Synagogue".
(John 9:18-23) . . .However, the Jews did not believe concerning him that he had been blind and had gained sight, until they called the parents of the man that gained sight. 19 And they asked them: “Is this YOUR son who YOU say was born blind? How, then, is it he sees at present?” 20 Then in answer his parents said: “We know that this is our son and that he was born blind. 21 But how it is he now sees we do not know, or who opened his eyes we do not know. ASK him. He is of age. He must speak for himself.” 22 His parents said these things because they were in fear of the Jews, for the Jews had already come to an agreement that, if anyone confessed him as Christ, he should get expelled from the synagogue. 23 This is why his parents said: “He is of age. QUESTION him.”
Br. Lett, You are not imitating Jesus. You are imitating the men who put him to death! They did not allow open discussion because they were in fear of losing their positions. Is that why you do not allow open discussion?
Wake up, Br. Lett. (Luke 19:42,43)

hello, i am certainly new to all of this.
i have recently been studying the prophecy's, and i was wondering if they are of any importance at all?
Viviane: Unless it's night, of course.
And what is "lacking" during the night?
No idea what this has to do with you defining "spiritual" or "spirituality", however.
It has everything to do with what spiritual or spirituality is.

Viviane,
Forgive me this:
The sky is blue and above our heads.
Your turn...;)

Viviane,
In the short time I've been here I have not seen you be passive about anything religious. No, you are very active, forthright and quite forceful in your opposition to religion.
I admire that, believe it or not. To be ready to skillfully defend a stand is something beautiful and you do it consistently with a verbal sword that cuts through the fat. Good for you.
Secondly, to not encourage something in no way means I in no way have any idea what that thing is.
I can say I understand what being a woman is but in no way can I truly understand what being a woman is because I am not a woman. You may intellectually understand what is meant by spiritual or spirituality but unless you experience it for yourself you have no way of truly understanding what is meant.
I will not participate in efforts to divide the flesh from its fat in order to satisfy an atheistic pursuit to put down religious beliefs.
Respectfully said and meant.

i have recently been studying the prophecy's, and i was wondering if they are of any importance at all?
Viviane: You said this place was not spiritually encouraging. I am in this place and not encouraging spirituality, so, yeah, you did say that whether you realized it or not. (underlining mine)
Viviane: I am asking you what this spirituality is that this place, and therefore me, is lacking. Until you tell me what it is, you really can't say that it's lacking. (underlining mine)
First you say you not encouraging spirituality (in the first quote above) then you turn around and ask me what spirituality is?
You should know since you already know you are not encouraging it. How can you discourage what you do not know/understand? Puzzling conversation, this.

Viviane: Until you can tell me what this "spirituality" thing is that I am lacking, you aren't saying anything
I did not say you were lacking anything. Please read more carefully. ;)

EA916,
If we believe the Bible is inspired of God then the prophecies are important.
If we believe the Bible is NOT inspired of God then the prophecies are NOT important.
If we are compassionate toward our fellow man then whether we believe the Bible is inspired or not we have nothing to worry about spiritually speaking.
From what I have seen just about all here have compassion for their fellow man so you are in a good place though not spiritually encouraging. But that's life.

you know about my not-so-ugly divorce and how me and my wife found out the religion is false.
she still attends while my 17 year old has been raging on me about all the wasted time he suffered from by being in this religion.
he think's his life is ruined, very angry we did not learn this was a cult earlier(he was 14 when he stopped attending after reading the revelation book, he said "in all time and history, how could a trumpet blown in revelation have anything to do with a jw bible student convention statement"?.
I have a different take on this. Perhaps it's my age or maybe it's because I think young people should be told the truth with no apologies when the truth is: Dad and Mom tried their best.
This is life...we can try out best...give it our best shot..and then find we have failed in some way. Our kids should learn that lesson and learn also that to try our best and fail is not a reason to apologize it is a reason to learn that life is not a game where we can always predict the outcome and come out smelling like roses. No, life is a struggle but a struggle well worth it if we are trying our best, giving it our all. If we have done that there is no reason to apologize for choices we had to make or chose to make.
There are thousands of choices good parents make and good loving parents may in hindsight wish they had made better choices, different choices, for their children. That though does not mean a parent should apologize for a choice made in good faith, with good intentions and with love. Should a father in the military whose family has had to move many times or a mother who chose a dangerous job in a foreign country because it paid for her child's education and then was seriously injured, should they apologize also? If they were good, loving and responsible parents why should they apologize for a choice sincerely made?
It is a lesson learned for the child- Son, we all make choices and at times those choices may later prove to be less than ideal or even wrong but this is life. I have made my choices with the best intentions, you someday will make choices you may later feel were best not made. But if you did your best what more can be asked of you?
All one can do is learn and move on. To wallow in our sincerely made bad choices is a waste of breath and time. Move forward son and hope that when your turn to raise children comes along you will not overly beat yourself for the sincerely made bad choices you yourself will almost positively make.-
It is one thing to apologize because our hearts impel us to but another to apologize because we feel we owe it to our children. What we owe our children is love and the best choices we can make with the information we have available to us at the time. What more can we do?
